thumbGYRO“The allure of GYROTONIC® methodology never seems to end. Despite all the knowledge I have acquired, there is still so much to learn. It’s depth and complexity continue to take me to another level of understanding, not just as a dancer but as a human being. After all, it completely makes sense to the body. It moves in harmony and with musicality….as life is the dance we create everyday.”

Juliu Horvath, a modern visionary in the world of mind-body development, created GYROTONIC® equipment and exercise after years of intense study and self-exploration. This unique methodology, known as the GYROTONIC® Expansion System, incorporates movement principles from yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming, and tai-chi. It aims at stretching and strengthening muscles while simultaneously stimulating and strengthening connective tissues in and around the joints of the body. Exercises, synchronized with corresponding breath patterns, enhance aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promote neuromuscular rejuvenation.
This “System” is served by a series of specially designed exercise equipment, which is built around the human body with all regards to total freedom in movement, no restriction to speed and versatility, and enhances rather than distracts from coordination, strength, and flexibility. Unlike most conventional exercise machines where linear or isolated movement patterns are performed creating uncoordinated strength, the patented GYROTONIC® Expansion System emphasizes multiple joint articulations without compression, thus strengthening ligaments and attachments.

GYROKINESIS® is Gyrotonic’s counterpart without equipment. Postures are smoothly and harmoniously connected through the use of breath, making exercises appear and feel more like a dance than traditional yoga.

Private and group instruction are available for both GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS®.

Amy Ell, Jacqueline Boe, Candace Ratliff, and Toni Valle present

What is Colluvia? The coming together of unrelated material through the pull of gravity. Each woman comes to the showcase from various paths with different reasons for wanting to show work. These four do not have anything artistically in common, yet feel the “pull” of presenting work – some new, some restaged. Vault Houston provides a perfect venue for this type of collaboration – a mix of works both in the air and on the ground.

VauLt premieres Colluvia on

November 13 & 14, 2015, at 7:30pm,

at VauLt Houston, 1824 Spring Street #124, Houston, TX 77007.
